Fantastic Victory For Local Candidate With Massive Swing To Labour

Beth4PantLabour

Clwyd South Labour Party would like to congratulate Beth Wright (CLICK HERE) on her victory last Thursday 22nd February. Beth was elected on to Rhos Community Council, representing Pant Ward. It was a truly excellent campaign, with Beth gaining 73% of the vote in a two-horse race against an Independent candidate (CLICK HERE). What makes this victory especially significant and notable is that no polling cards were issued, and so candidates had to work much harder to get the vote out; we must also remember that in an Community Council election for the same ward last year, Labour achieved approx 25% of the vote. So, compared to 73% this time, in just 5 months, I think we can all agree that is some swing and a tremendous achievement for the ‘fresh blood’ of Labour.

Beth carried out a tremendous campaign that really connected with the local community. From day one, the campaign was positively-focussed and a great example of combining new and old campaigning methods. Beth was quick to share the praise heaped on her:

“I am delighted to have been elected to represent Pant ward, on Rhos Community Council. Pant is where I grew up and also where I call home to this day. I’d like to thank the local elected officials for their encouragement and I am deeply indebted to my local Clwyd South Labour Party comrades and Welsh Labour Grassroots/Momentum for their invaluable and unending support. I’d also like to thank my family for their patience and help over the last few weeks. My biggest thanks must go to the community for putting their faith in me and I’d like to assure them I am eager to get started on the list of their concerns, mentioned to me during the campaign. I hope I can make everyone proud, and taking a lead from our brilliant leader, Jeremy Corbyn, I can assure all that I will be working very much for the many, not the few. Solidarity and huge thanks to you all!”

Following on from what Beth says above, Clwyd South MP and local resident Susan Elan Jones, demonstrated the aforementioned supportive approach when responding to the result:

“Welsh Labour candidate Beth Wright secured an excellent result. I am sure that she will continue to work hard for Pant ward residents as a Community Councillor.”

Also quick to praise Beth and Labour’s progressive campaigning was Vic Grout, Chair of Clwyd South Labour Party:

“I’m delighted for Beth. She’s a superb, enthusiastic, committed local campaigner and she’ll be an excellent community councillor. The voters obviously recognised this too because her winning margin was substantial. It was also an excellent example of the Labour team working at local level and putting Jeremy Corbyn’s new form of compassionate politics into action. It all bodes very well indeed for the future at local and national level.”

Hoffai Plaid Lafur De Clwyd longyfarch Beth Wright (CLICIWCH YMA) ar ei buddugoliaeth ddydd Iau diwethaf, 22ain Chwefror. Cafodd Beth ei hethol ar Gyngor Cymuned Rhos, i gynrychioli Ward Pant. Roedd yr ymgyrch yn wirioneddol wych, gyda Beth yn ennill 73% o’r bleidlais mewn etholiad yn erbyn ymgeisydd Annibynnol (CLICIWCH YMA).

Yr hyn sy’n gwneud y fuddugoliaeth hon yn arbennig o bwysig a nodedig yw na chafwyd unrhyw gardiau pleidleisio eu hanfon, ac felly roedd yn rhaid i ymgeiswyr weithio’n llawer anoddach i gael bobl i bledleisio. Mae’n rhaid cofio hefyd, mewn etholiad Cyngor Cymuned ar gyfer yr un ward y llynedd, cafwyd Y Blaid Lafur tua 25% o’r bleidlais. Felly, o gymharu â 73% y tro hwn, mewn dim ond 5 mis, rwy’n credu fedrwn cytuno mae’n cyflawniad aruthrol ar gyfer ‘gwaed ffres’ Llafur.

Llwyddodd ymgyrch Beth i gysylltu â’r gymuned lleol. O’r diwrnod cyntaf, cyfunodd ymgyrch Beth dulliau hen a newydd i yn effeithiol. Roedd Beth yn gyflym i rannu’r canmoliaeth a gafodd:

“Rwy’n falch iawn fy mod wedi cael fy ethol i gynrychioli ward Pant, ar Gyngor Cymuned Rhos. Pant yw lle ges i fy magu a hefyd lle rwy’n galw adref hyd heddiw. Hoffwn ddiolch i’r swyddogion etholedig lleol am eu hanogaeth ac rwy’n ddyledus iawn i’m cymrodyr yn y Blaid Lafur, De Clwyd a Welsh Labour Grassroots/ Momentum am eu cefnogaeth amhrisiadwy ac anferthol. Hoffwn hefyd ddiolch i’m teulu am eu amynedd a’u cymorth dros yr wythnosau diwethaf. Mae rhaid i’r diolch mwyaf fynd i bobl y gymuned am roi eu ffydd ynof fi a hoffwn eu sicrhau fy mod yn awyddus i ddechrau ar y rhestr o’u pryderon, â soniodd pobl wrthaf yn ystod yr ymgyrch. Rwy’n gobeithio y gallaf wneud pawb yn falch, a, gan gymryd arweiniad gan ein arweinydd gwych, Jeremy Corbyn, gallaf sicrhau pawb y byddaf yn gweithio dros y llu, nid y lleiafrif. Diolch yn fawr i chi i gyd!”

Yn dilyn yr hyn y mae Beth yn ei ddweud uchod, canmolodd AS De Clwyd, Susan Elan Jones, yr ymgyrcg a’r canlyniad:

“Cafodd Beth Wright, ymgeisydd Llafur Cymru, ganlyniad ardderchog. Dwi’n siwr bydd Beth yn parhau i weithio’n galed i drigolion ward Pant fel cynghorydd cymuned.”

Hefyd, yn gyflym i ganmol ymgyrch flaengar Beth a Llafur oedd Vic Grout, Cadeirydd Parti Llafur De Clwyd:

“Rwy’n falch iawn i Beth. Mae hi’n ymgyrchydd lleol wych, yn frwdfrydig, ymroddedig a mi fyddaui’n Gynghorydd Cymuned ardderchog. Roedd y pleidleiswyr yn amlwg yn cydnabod hyn, fel gwelwn yn ffigyrau’r fuddugoliaeth. Roedd hefyd yn enghraifft wych o’r tîm Llafur gan weithio ar lefel leol a rhoi polisi newydd Jeremy Corbyn o wleidyddiaeth dosturiol ar waith. Mae arolwg addawil ar gyfer y dyfodol ar lefel lleol a chenedlaethol.”
